Milt Klingsporn — Pulaski HS & JCI
March 11, 2014
This past September I attended my high school reunion. I can’t believe it was fifty years ago that we graduated from Pulaski High School on Milwaukee’s south side. Where did the time go? (Oh yeah, a lot of it was spent at JCI.)
One of the activities that weekend was a tour of our old school. Mr. Darrell Williams, the principal, gave us the tour and pointed out some of the many changes to the school since we were students. He was especially proud of the automotive training the students are able to get today. Pulaski is the only high school in Milwaukee where students can graduate from high school and already have their ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification.
Imagine my surprise and delight when he told us that Pulaski is the only school in the country that has not one, but two hybrid vehicles in their automotive shop for students to study and work on, donated by Johnson Controls. I proudly let him know that I had worked at JCI.
From the Pulaski school web site: Our automotive program recently acquired two hybrid vehicles, a first-in-the-nation perfect match for the hybrid/alternative-fuel vehicle curriculum at Pulaski that exposes students to careers in automotive design, engineering and repair. http://www5.milwaukee.k12.wi.us/school/selections/pulaski-high-school/
